I would not recommend free classified ads online as they are ineffective, and will hurt you by branding you as unprofessional at best, or at worse, a spammer.

I find that the best and easiest way of advertising web business online is through Pay Per Click (PPC), when you have a targeted promotion period. When I first experimented with PPC years ago, I found it to be the most economical and efficient solution while waiting for free traffic to build up.
Why PPC?
· You can target lower cost keywords, which is more cost effective because of less competition for those words (but they add up)
· You can better control timing for immediate results while also controlling advertising costs
· You can dial up or down traffic on a moment’s notice for special promotions
Sponsored ads on a search engine results page are also an option, depending on their cost and effectiveness versus your available budget.
Advertising in a related but non-competing ezine is another great option – you can leverage another site’s established and loyal customer base. You may want to test some ezines and keep the ones who offer the best value and get the largest and most responsive audience for the cost.
