Internet Business Optimization

Internet Business Optimization: Rules for Success

You’ve worked long and hard to plan, setup, and produce your website. After spending countless hours with little sleep, you’ve finally created your website.

Now you want to see results...but your traffic reports tell you that nobody is visiting your site.

What’s going on here?

At this point, you've reached the hump. Most website owners will mistakenly believe that they must focus all their energy to building traffic.

They will forget about what is really important for real Internet business optimization: their business, their customers, and content. Instead, they’ll lose precious time getting distracted on all of the little things.

I don’t like to be negative...it’s just the reality.

But now that you know the all-too-common pitfalls, you can recognize them and avoid them. There is a hump stage where you’ll need to wait for search engines to find your site. So what do you do while you’re waiting to be indexed?

Keys to Internet business optimization

1) Focus
2) Build content
3) Get a few credible, relevant in-pointing links
4) Plan and adjust

First, you’ll need to focus only on the important things.

Don’t be distracted with all the “latest and greatest” online marketing programs. Instead, you should focus on the 20% of the tasks you do that are most important to your business –- you’ll find that these critical few tasks will contribute to 80% of your success.

And the secret to your success is...

Building more and more CONTENT. That is your #1 key business priority.

That simple. Having a real, value-added site will attract your human visitors. Their behavior on your site (how long they stay) hint at how good your site is to the search engine spiders and robots.

Then the search engines will find you and give you higher rankings for it. So just by writing more content, you are doing the best thing possible to competitively position your business.

Your content is the key to making all your visitors happy -- both humans and search engine spiders.

Get a few relevant links for credibility with the search engines

After you’ve created 20+ website pages, you should turn your attention to getting a few credible in-pointing links. When another website puts a link to your site on theirs, it represents a vote of confidence for you.

The search engines see an in-pointing link as added credentials –- only if it is a relevant website. For example, if you have a site on business consulting, (it may not hurt but) it definitely won’t help if another website about cats links to your site.

Your plan should always include producing more content as your first priority. But as your site progresses, you may need to adjust your plan on other tasks such as getting a few quality links. For links, it’s quality not quantity that counts.
