Before you start creating your website, I recommend that you think about how you will make money from online business.

If you have an existing business offline, it may be more obvious to you what your primary website goals are.

For example, if you own an apartment building, your goals for your website may be to generate leads for potential renters. So in this example, as your main focus is selling your product, you may not want to distract your visitors by adding other advertising links or affiliate links.

If you are starting an online business without an existing offline business, you have more options and flexibility on how you would like to make money from your business website. Your monetization plan will depend on your needs and preferences.

“But what if I don’t have a product or service to sell?”

No worries. Many people think that they cannot have a successful business website and make money online business, because they don’t have a product or service to sell. That is simply not the case.

Some of the most successful business websites do not have their own products or services to sell.

Information!

Most people who search online are looking for just that –- specific information. They are usually not looking for YOUR business, product or service anyway, but rather for some useful information that will benefit and educate them.

In a sea of hard-sell websites, a truly useful information-based website will stand out as a winner.

Once you have built this credibility as an expert, information website, and have regular traffic coming to your website, then you can start monetizing your site, and make money from online business, with affiliate programs and/or adsense advertising.

Eventually, all of your website visitors will leave your website. If you work at building traffic, and provide a monetized way for them to leave (through an affiliate or adsense link), you can certainly make a sizable income from your website without "selling" a single thing.

And that is an effective and respectable way to make money online.
