Writing Website Content Positioning Your Brand

Summary: Writing Website Content Positioning Your Brand · Most important - what is the unique info you are offering to your customers/audience? What do they want to know and can you write about it?

· Knowledge – mix of experience and research. Do you have a strong base and willing/able to do research to update it?

· Website content positioning - write with the right voice for your business brand image

· If you are stuck or need more help – get free content and/or writing help.

An important part of your strategy is assessing the website content positioning that you plan to develop.

Even before you register a domain name or write a single word, you should think about what unique and valuable information you can offer to your audience on your website.

What does your audience/customers want to know? Think about what kind of topics would appeal to them. Building your own website can be fun, but your success lies in your ability to write for your audience and not for yourself.

As you flesh out a potential theme and topics for your website, it will become more clear to you whether you have enough knowledge and experience to write many pages on the subject.

Don’t panic! Everyone knows a lot about some topics, and nobody knows 100% of any topic. So just focus on the topics you DO know and love. You will need to do research to fill in the gaps with the right voice for your website content positioning.

Even if you are a pro, ongoing research is essential to keep your website current, updated, and growing. And with the web, research has never been easier! Just go to google.com, type in your topic and research to your heart’s content ...

Personally, since the web I’ve noticed that I work much smarter and faster now. My trips to the library have dropped dramatically since I started ‘living on the Internet’ in 1994.

Just remember that your website content positioning should work with your business and the brand image you seek to project. Keep your writing voice professional, fun, or whatever is appropriate for your business.

Need writing help?

I believe that writing your own original content is the best plan in differentiating yourself from your competitors.

That being said, it’s always a good idea to have a backup plan. If you get stuck on a particular topic page for your website, you can consider getting free content to put on your website.

There are many websites that offer free articles, and whose authors haven given permission for you to use their content. The only catch is that you generally have to include the author’s signature block at the end of the article. It is only fair to give the proper writing credit and to give the authors the chance to promote themselves as well.

A huge part of good writing is in the editing. Your friends and family may be willing to help you proofread your writing. I don’t know of any people who would write your site for free, but if you have some loving souls who are willing to help you revise and proofread ... take advantage of it!

Another way to get help is by hiring some writing help. Depending on your budget, hiring some part-time or freelance help is a way to quickly produce content. The website Elance.com offers freelance writers, designers, and marketers for hire. You could also check your local Craigslist.org site.
